Let's start at the beginning ...
The Economic European Union (EEC) was established in 1957 through the signing of the Treaty of Rome between the six founding countries: Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. . Committed to solidify the climate of peace that existed at the time, and to strengthen economic cooperation, these countries decided to establish what was called the "common market", allowing them to recover from the devastating Second World War, of which Europe was the stage .
Since then, 22 more countries have joined this large organization, forming a huge single market that continues to evolve to reach its full potential.
What started as a purely economic union has evolved into an organization with a wide range of policy areas ranging from climate, environment and health to external relations and security, justice and migration. In 1993, with the signing of the Maastricht Treaty, the European Economic Community (EEC) was renamed the European Union (EU), reflecting this development.
With its main flags up to the present, the ability to maintain a climate of peace, stability and prosperity, which has contributed to improving the standard of living of Europeans and has led to the creation of a single currency, the euro. The Single Currency is used by more than 340 million European citizens from 19 different countries.
Mobility is another of the pillars of EU consolidation, which is largely supported by the abolition of border controls between EU countries, allowing free movement of people and goods, facilitating the possibility of living, working and traveling in other EU countries . All European citizens have the right and freedom to choose in which EU country they want to work, study or reform. In terms of employment, social security and taxes, EU countries, inspired by their community sentiment, should treat other European citizens in exactly the same way as they treat their own citizens.
Since its foundation, the EU has ensured the union of the different cultures that make up the Community territory, with the following fundamental principles: Democracy, Freedom, Human Rights, Equality, Rule of Law and Dignity of the Human Being.
