Pegada n'Areia in Carcavelos Beach with ASAMAR association

During this morning we were in Carcavelos beach for another activity of the project Pegada n'Areia. This project is part of Maré Viva summer volunteer program and aims to develop environmental, prevention, information and public health activities on the beaches of the municipality of Cascais.

Today's action was supported by ASAMAR, an association of Aquatic Rescue created in 2008 with professionals with national and international experience in the areas of water rescue, meeting the needs of aquatic safety, prevention and surveillance.

Several groups of children, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., heard rescuer swimmer Nuno explaining what cares they should have on the beach and with who they should talk to if they get lost. They heard about the flags, about the hours of sun exposure, from 11am to 5pm, among other relevant information.

The green flag indicates that it is safe to enter the water, the yellow one that needs to be redoubled care and that you can not swim, the red that you can not get into the water at all. The flag with plaid pattern indicates that the rescuer swimmer is absent and the one that is half yellow half yellow informs swimmers which zone is best suited for bathing.

If the children are lost, they were told to look for the savior swimmers, the little mates or, in the last case, the police. the savior swimmer told them what to look for. They also told them that they should always go to the water without an adult.

Lastly, the rescuer swimmer told them that dogs can not go to the beach during the bathing season.

Stay tuned to our social networks to know when they are taking place and what are the next activities of Pegada n'Areia. Until then, go through our instagram to be aware of everything!
