Luís Peixoto | NATURA OBSERVA

They call me Peixoto.

This year I am coordinating the Badger project. In this project the volunteers deal with the maintenance of the Yellow Base Camp Base. This is the first time I have been entrusted with this responsibility and so far it is a very good experience. This type of volunteer initiatives is an asset to us, coordinators and volunteers, as it promotes fundamental characteristics for the future life such as team spirit, between-help, responsibility and taste for nature.

My adventure at Natura Observes began 8 years ago, where I signed up for the same project that I coordinate today. There, I learned many of the techniques I teach my volunteers today and made me feel more comfortable taking this project forward.

In addition, my taste for nature started early.
I was a scout, the Biology classes were the ones that most interested me (so much that I graduated in Biology) and participated in several volunteer projects related to the Environment. The time I've been (and I am) at Natura Observ has strengthened my facet and now I feel very pleased to work in the Sierra de Sintra.

I hope that projects like these will continue to exist and be disseminated to inspire more young people to protect and care for the Environment in the future.
