It was last Saturday that the waves of the beach of Carcavelos were given a day dedicated to the Adapted Surf, in an action that united the sensitization for the European elections of May 29, 2019 and the decisions of the European Union regarding the disabled people.
The SurfAddict - the Portuguese Adapted Surfing Association, the European Parliament Office, this year with the motto «This time I vote», and the European Commission Representation are committed to transforming adapted surf into a sport for all, eliminating exclusion and thus giving practical visibility to the principle of non-discrimination, one of the structuring pillars of the European Union.
Our volunteers from the Maré Viva program were present and contributed to the well-being of all users, playing a key role in the use of the cart.
It was a day full of emotion, waves and many smiles.
Also in attendance was our Mayor, Carlos Carreiras, who called for the vote: "we are all called to participate in European democracy by voting in the next elections. Try it, it costs nothing and they fulfill a right, but also an obligation of citizenship "and the Commissioner of the European Capital of Youth, Catarina Marques Vieira, who took the same view.
Ana Rita Antunes, Secretary of State for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities, reinforces the idea that "bringing these young people to the sea has an unparalleled impact on their lives and it is also a very important brand to realize that the European Parliament has chosen as a campaign to encourage the inclusion of people with disabilities.
The website www.thistimeimvoting.eu was launched, in which people can register, creating a network of information multipliers on the European elections, so if you want to know more follow the link.
