It was Saturday, September 15, that took place on the beach of Carcavelos a day dedicated to special surfers who do not have access to the waves every day nor regularly.
The Surf Addict - Portuguese Adapted Surfing Association, organizer of the event, is responsible for events such as this one held in Carcavelos all over the country since 2012, with the objective of giving access to anyone with any type of disability, one day in the beach, a different day sliding on a surfboard and feeling the sea differently.
Once a month, from April to September, not only institutions with their users, but also users in private heading to the beaches with the family.
Teresa Abraços, surfer, volunteer and vice-president of the association, said that these events "are above all to give all people the possibility of practicing sport, regardless of physical, mental limitation whatsoever. We want sport, and specifically surfing, for everyone, from the youngest to the oldest; we have children of 7 years and sometimes adults of 70 years. It is above all a well spent day, we put everyone in the water.
The association works with volunteers, some permanent, others who are on time at some events. In these days at sea, there are even specific trainers to accompany people to the sea.
Saturday morning was amazing, had lots of smiles, lots of dives and, above all, a lot of surf!
