World Diabetes Day

Today is World Diabetes Day, did you know that there are many people affected by this pathology?

Let's learn anything !!!

Do you know what it is?

Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by the inability of our body to use its main energy source, glucose (sugar) and has the consequence of raising blood glucose levels.

Diabetes is a life-threatening disease that can have serious consequences if it is not well controlled.

Types of diabetes:

The two main forms are Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes is more common in young people.

In this type of diabetes the body suddenly stops producing the only hormone that can lower blood glucose: insulin. These people have to be treated with insulin and need injections of this hormone to live.

Type 2 diabetes usually occurs in older people, resulting in an inability of the body to produce enough insulin to bind to the body's resistance to insulin. The main cause of this is over-weight (overweight or obesity). These people are treated with food, exercise and medications, which may be tablets or insulin.

Type 2 diabetes is much more prevalent (about 90-95% of all diabetes cases worldwide) and is increasing as a result of unhealthy lifestyles that result in more and more people being overweight and obese .

There are other types of diabetes other than Type 1, Type 2, but these occur much less often.

Now that you know the types of diabetes and how they work, try to look for a healthy lifestyle.
