After 35 public participation sessions, 15 municipal schools completed the Young Participatory Budget Proposals phase. This phase involved 2351 students, and has resulted in 139 proposals that will now go to technical evaluation.
Between January 17 and February 6, students in grades 2 and 3 were urged to answer the question, "What do you want to improve at your school?"
Among the most common proposals stand out: the improvement of facilities, such as bathrooms and baths; the purchase of tablets as substitutes for books; the acquisition of more and better lockers; as well as a general improvement of classroom conditions, such as temperature, chairs and tables or the diversity of materials used, which make it possible to stimulate classrooms.
In addition to the school improvements, in these sessions, young people were also challenged to give their views on what they want to see improved in their community, which highlights the creation of more and better green spaces and sports equipment, proposals that similar to the of schools are also in the technical evaluation phase.
For proposals to improve schools, the Municipal Council of Cascais, offers 10,000 euros and for those in the community, a budget of 300,000 euros.
