Finished another shift of Marezinhas do Futuro

It ends today another period of Marezinhas do Futuro, a project added to the summer volunteer program Maré Viva.

The project came in 2016 to bridge the lack of supply that existed between summer volunteer programs for young people between 12 and 14 years of age in the county. This project is one of the special projects, all inserted in the Maré Viva program and coordinated by Ana Daniela Madeira, licensed in Physiotherapy.

Susana Machado, coordinator of the project, is 23 years old, has a degree in basic education and will begin her master's degree in pre-school education in September.

In conversation with her, we have discovered that the functions that the little girls of the future play are different from those of the older girls. They go through observation and completion of questionnaires and control cards on the beach, and they are therefore like the eyes of the coordination team on the beaches. In this way, the information they collect allows the beach teams, the coordination team and all other entities to find a way to improve the beach.

In addition to these functions, the little girls of the future can still distribute ashtrays, give support to the activities that take place on the beach, as in the case of the Pegada n'Areia activities, or even sweep the access to the beach. At each beach, leaders can also tell them to perform extra activities that allow the little mums of the future to know more in depth everything they need to know about beaches, their specific characteristics - peddy papers, leadership days, hypothetical situations first aid kits, ashtray holders, among others. In this way, not only the marezinahs of the future are included in groups with older muezzins, from 15 to 21 years, but also the role of the leaders, which is so important, is reinforced.

The volunteers have a ten-day work period and the purpose of this program is for the young women of the future to make the best use of the beach and the activities they accompany, so that they will one day be the oldest and future leaders in the beaches.

The project has 130 places, 30 more than the previous year. Running from mid-June, the five 2-week periods will run through the end of August.

Of the misadventures of the future that we have found, they have all signed up for it to make new friends, to take a vacation in a better way, and to help and contribute to a better beach.

If you see the marezinhas do futuro in our beaches, let yourself be inspired by them!
