Volunteering 70 JÁ | YOUTH RIGHTS

The national campaign was launched officially on April 18, at 3:00 p.m., in Armazém 22, in Vila Nova de Gaia, to sensitize and awaken the younger members of society to their rights.

This initiative intends to present to the Portuguese youth their rights enshrined in Article 70 of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, through a campaign, based mainly on the Internet and the tools that the social web provides.

Article 70 of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic establishes rights covering different spheres of life, such as culture, education, access to the first job, housing, sport and leisure.

The Government, through the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth, aims to foster the empowerment of young people by giving them access to the information they need to exercise their rights fully and at the same time have access to a means of mobilizing public sector, private sector and the designated third sector to address the concerns of young people.

In order for the message to reach all young Portuguese, an exclusive platform was created for this project. The digital space that is complemented by the presence in social networks: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The campaign will be divided into several themes, so as to communicate comprehensively all the areas consecrated in article 70 - health, world, experience, sport, culture, education, equality, housing, among others.

The first theme to be worked on is Civic Participation, one of the most important areas for the active participation of young people in society.

Thus, to participate means to be part of a social and political community, it means to intervene socially and contribute to the present and the future of the country, facts that the campaign 70 ALREADY! intends to spread throughout the country, showing the Portuguese youth that the participation of all can influence not only the national course, but also the personal direction of each one.

This youth volunteering action will take place between September 2018 and June 2019 and is aimed at young people who have readiness and willingness to communicate with other young people and who want to intervene, in school, in the promotion of human rights and constitutional rights of young people.

Entries are open to 100 volunteers by October 12. Volunteers who participate in this volunteer action, after recruitment, selection and training, move in teams to elementary schools (3rd cycle), secondary or even university, in collaboration with students to develop and projects with the school community.
