Pegadas n'Areia from this summer

The last activity of the Pegada n'Areia of this summer, a project inserted in the Summer volunteer program Maré Viva, was held on Tuesday, 14th.

During 27 actions, 1452 young people had the opportunity, since June 22, to participate in environmental, prevention, information and public health activities on the beaches of the municipality of Cascais.

These 27 actions were 2 adapted dance classes, 4 actions with the support of Águas do Tejo Atlântic (ADTA), 4 actions with the support of the Portuguese Association Against Childhood Obesity (APCOI), 8 with the Association of Aquatic Rescue (ASAMAR), 7 hours of the story and 2 with the Nuclio.

Adapted Dance classes, which took place in Praia de Carcavelos, contributed to the awareness of a more inclusive society and also to the benefits that result from this form of social interaction. Dance in wheelchairs, although not considered a sport, is a form of body expression that provides the best moments. In spite of being directed to the reduced mobility and special needs, in the classes there were also institutions, users of the Cascais Acessível - Praia para Todos project, volunteers from Maré Viva and also vacationers from our beaches.

The actions with the partners of ADTA aimed to energize the youngest ones with games in the sand, directing them to subjects such as the importance of the treatment of the residual waters for the preservation and valorization of the natural courses through the improvement of the quality of the receivers means, having the sea as the main protagonist.

The actions with the APCOI partnership focused on the promotion of healthy living habits among the youngest. The challenge was to discover, through games, the superpowers of fruits and vegetables, whose nutrients guarantee more health and quality of life.
Already the actions in partnership with ASAMAR had the intention of informing the young people about the care to have on the beach, in relation to all the flags, as well as the best time to be exposed to the sun or with whom they should go if they are lost .

The hours of the story aimed to draw attention to reading habits among the younger ones, and also had the translation into sign language of the stories read on the beach for everyone to have a chance to appreciate the story.

Finally, the actions in partnership with Nuclio took place with the intention of instilling in the young not only the taste for the Solar System, but also informing them about the size of the planets, the stars and the Sun.

All these actions were carried out with the support of a volunteer from Pegada n'Areia and also with 54 marezinhas do futuro, distributed by all the beaches where the footprints passed.
