PROFESSIONAL COURSES

What is?

If you're looking for a more practical and market-oriented education modality that also allows you to apply for Superior Education, the Professional Courses are an adequate option for you!

For who?

• If you have the 9th grade or equivalent;
• If you seek to finish the 12th grade and simultaneously obtain a professional certification;

Duration:

It's a 3-year duration course, equivalents to the 10th, 11th, and 12th schooling years;

Certification: 

• Completion of 12th grade;
• Level 4 Professional Qualification Certificate; 

SPECIALIZED ARTISTIC COURSES

What is?

Secondary level courses in the domains of Visual Arts and Audiovisuals;

For who?

• If you have the 9th grade or equivalent; 
• If you seek to finish the 12th grade and simultaneously obtain a professional certification;

Duration:

It's a 3-year duration course, equivalents to the 10th, 11th, and 12th schooling years;

Certification: 

• Completion of 12th grade;
• Level 4 Professional Qualification Certificate; 

TRAINING AND EDUCATION COURSES

What is?

An opportunity for you to complete the obligatory schooling, through a path well adjusted to your interests.

For who?

• If you have more than 15 years old; 
• If you seek to complete your schooling path in a professional strand;

Access to these courses is related to your schooling and the professional qualification level that you possess. 

Certification:

Each course corresponds to an educational/professional stage (Type 1 - Type 7). At the end of each stage you will receive a scholar and professional certificate

Additional Note: Some of these courses are also available at the Centros de Formação Profissional do Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional. If you wish to attend these courses, you should go to your local IEFP.

VOCATIONAL COURSES

What is? 

More simplified and practical professional courses.

For who?

• 13 years old or more.
• With 2 repetitions in the same cycle or 3 repetitions in different cycles.
• Not completing the 9th grade.

Additional Note: If you want to attend a Vocational Course you must present a Report from a Psychologist Technician advising your attendance on these types of courses.

Duration:

1 year

Certification:

• 9th-grade equivalent
• Doesn't provide Professional Certification

School continuation:

These courses allow you to continue your studies, let it be through a Professional Courses or a Scientific-Humanistic Course.

Additional Note: In case that you choose to continue your studies in a scientific-humanistic course you must do the 9th-grade national exams.

SECONDARY VOCATIONAL COURSES

What is?
More practical courses for youngsters that intend a concrete professional path. It includes a work context internship.

For who?
            • 16 years or older
            • Risk of drop out youngster that seek for a more technical offer.

Additional Note: The forwarding of the students is done after the vocational evaluation process. It also demands an agreement with the legal responsible if the student is underage.


Certification:
            • 12th grade and level 4 certification.

School continuation:
These courses allow you to continue your studies, in accordance with the necessary requests and demands.

LEARNING COURSES

What is?

Professional Education Courses that privilege your labor market ingress, with 3 internship stages included.

For who?

• <25 years old ; 
• 9th grade or equivalent; 
• Qualification is higher than 9th grade or equivalent, without completion of secondary education or equivalent.

Duration:

2,5 years - 3 years

Certification: 

• 12th-grade equivalent
• Level 4 Professional qualification certificate

Additional Note: Some of these courses are also available at the Centros de Formação Profissional do Instituto de Emprego e Formação Profissional. If you wish to attend these courses, you should go to your local IEFP.

Access to Superior Education:

After concluding the 12th grade with the level 4 professional qualification you can progress in your studies by a CET- Curso de Especialização Tecnológica or by a CTSD - Curso Técnico Superior Profissional, both with level 5 professional qualification and/or a Superior Education Course, as long as you do the national exams and comply with the remaining requests previewed in the Superior Education Access Regulation.

Alert: If you frequent or are going to frequent a Professional Education Course and intend to apply for Superior Education, you only have to do the national exam of:

- Portuguese of the Scientific-Humanistic general education component;

- and the National Exam of a subject being part of the Scientific-Humanistic specific education component;

These exams can be used as entrance exams.

However, if you want to make the best decisions, it is advised that you seek better information, namely, about the result of your final course grade so you can continue your studies - CFCEPE.
