Is it possible to do an anonymous test? Even though it is smaller? The only site where the anonymous test is possible, even though it is smaller, is at the Centers for HIV Counseling and Early Detection (ADC).

When we do routine tests, is HIV testing included? No, an HIV test can only be done if it is requested and with the consent of the person.

How long does it take to get the result? If the test is performed in a normal laboratory on average, the result takes one week. If the test is performed at a Counseling and Early Detection Center the result will only take about 30 to 60 minutes to come out the result.

How much does the test cost? An HIV test in a private laboratory can cost an average of € 50. If the test is done at a Counseling and Early Detection Center the test is completely free.

Are the test results reliable? If the test is performed after three months of the risk behavior and the result is negative then it is not infected. If the result is positive, a new confirmation test will be done. If the latter is confirmed a third test will be done to determine the viral load.

Can I take a home test reliably? Neither in Europe nor in the US, HIV testing at home is allowed because of poor reliability.

What are the symptoms that can reveal an infection? The symptoms are similar to those of a cold or flu (fever, dilation of the thyroid or lymph glands, inflammation of the throat, muscle aches, diarrhea, nausea, etc.).
