Singularity University launches first programs in Portugal

Singularity University (SU) announced on December 14 a new partnership with Cascais Municipality, Nova SBE and Beta-i, to launch two initiatives in Portugal to SingularityU Portugal Global Impact Challenge and SingularityU Portugal Summit Cascais.

The SU is a global community that uses exponential technologies to respond to the biggest global challenges, betting on building a better future for all.

SingularityU Portugal Global Impact Challenge

The aim of the first program is to promote disruptive innovations to tackle and solve the world's biggest problems in the fields of energy, environment, food, shelter, space, water, natural disasters, organization, health, education, prosperity and security. These 'disruptive innovations' are, in the US definition, all those that impact one billion people within 10 years.

Thus, this SingularityU Portugal Global Impact Challenge has already opened the applications, which extend until February 6, inviting entrepreneurs and other actors to propose ideas that can help solve some of the great global challenges of today, and the priority goes to proposals which focus on 3 topics: Organization, Education and Environment.

The winner of this initiative will be announced on Feb. 26 and will be honored with a 10-week program with the Singularity team at the SU Ventures Incubator Program at NASA Research Park in Silicon Valley.

The jury for this program will be constituted by representatives of Singularity University, Nova SBE, Cascais City Hall, Amélia de Mello Foundation and Beta-i, as well as other influential figures from the universe of entrepreneurship, business and innovation.
